Its “Yahoo” Time for Search Engine Users!
ByAs someone who surfs the Internet frequently for research and writing, I tend to use search engines a lot. Now basically, all search engines are the same. The track and seek out relevant information based on keywords I specify. But when it comes to the relevance of those keywords, I have found Yahoo search to be the best. Others might claim that google search is the best while still others plum for AOL search or Netscape search. But for my usage and specifications, there is nothing to compare with Yahoo search. Let me tell you why.
Most other searches are plain searches. They search for a keyword and get back all sorts of results. While the number of results may be more, the relevance of these search results is lesser. This makes these searches a difficult option when quick and reliable results are needed. Not to mention absolutely useless if you are looking for the widest range of most reliable and credible information based on your keyword specifications. Yes! It can be quite frustrating!
While other search engines are only concerned with keyword specifications, Yahoo goes a step further. It also asks you for the theme or category that you are hunting for. When they are specified along with the keyword or keywords, Yahoo displays all the relevant articles connected with theme. Again, unlike other search engines which are just plain searches, Yahoo opts for the Boolean approach. In this case, the search engine provides only those pages that have some real value. Every page containing the keyword (whether meaningful or meaningless) is not displayed. Thus, Yahoo is more concerned with relevance than with numbers.
Any number of benefits are available to the Yahoo search engine user, since the search engine is presented as part of the main portal itself. If you should choose to look for Los Angeles, for instance, then Yahoo displays only pertinent information about the place–the map of the area, latest news updates, classifieds coming from that place, and description of Los Angeles. Other search engines would go the whole hog and put up lists and lists of websites containing the words, Los Angeles! Thus, the Yahoo search engine permits you to sort out what you want and what you want to discard (manual filtering); compare results with other themes as well as across themes; and access further information connected with your search results. Now, tell me of another search engine that offers so much!
Furthermore, using yahoo search, you can categorize all this information to reflect the best of what you need from your search results. So If I were working on a research article on Los Angeles and I typed in my query in yahoo search, the results I would get would not only be the most relevant, but also the most comprehensive from a number of channels perspective. These are the reasons why I prefer Yahoo search.
